Aldi Medion Life P4502: Release date, price & availability

Following on from the Medion Life P4501, which was launched by Aldi last December, the company is making its Medion Life P4502 budget Android smartphone available to buy for a limited time from Thursday 18 December 2014 as part of its Specialbuys promotion.

It'll cost just £79.99, and if it proves to be a success the smartphone won't stick around for long, as Aldi says,"Once they're gone, they're gone!"

You'll need to head down to an Aldi store to pick up the smartphone from 18 December.

Aldi Medion Life P4502: Specs & features

So for £79.99, is the Aldi Medion Life P4502 actually any good? We've not had a chance to test it for ourselves, but the specs suggest that you're going to get what you pay for.

It has a decent 1.3GHz Quad-core processor with 1GB RAM, a 4.5in qHD touchscreen with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, equating to a less than impressive 244ppi.

It does run Android 4.4 KitKat, though, and it has a reasonable 5Mp front-facing camera paired with a 2MP front-facing camera.

There's just 8GB of internal memory with a microSD slot for adding an extra 32GB should you need it (and you probably will as only 3GB out of that 8GB is available to the user).

It sounds like the battery is a bit shoddy, with Aldi quoting up to 4 hours talk time, so that's certainly something to consider before parting with your £80.

As for the design, it looks like the new Medion Life smartphone has some pretty hefty bezels at the top and bottom, though the bottom bezel does house navigation buttons. Aside from that, the overall design is simple and reasonably sleek for a budget device.

It's 133mm tall, 68mm wide and 10mm thick, and weighs around 142g.

Connectivity includes WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G but no 4G connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0.

Aldi offers a three year warranty on the smartphone, which is good news if you're concerned about buying it as it'll give you a bit of extra support and security should something go wrong.
