IFA has firmly established itself as one of the most important technology shows in the calendar. As usual, we went on a gadget hunt so here are the best new products from the event held in Berlin, Germany.
Samsung Galaxy Note Edge
Smartphone
One of the most interesting smartphones to launch for years is the Galaxy Note Edge with its new take on the curved screen. It's essentially a Galaxy Note 4 with an additional section of display on the side which can be used to display icons, notifications and more. A UK release for the device is up in the air.

Samsung Gear VR
Virtual reality headset
Rather than an Oculus Rift rival, the firm has teamed up with Samsung on the Gear VR. It offers a 96 degree field of view and has touch pad for control. The price might seem outstandingly affordable but you'll need to slot in a Galaxy Note 4 for the device to work.

LG G Watch R
Smartwatch
The hype around the Moto 360 has been monumental so LG has quite rightly announced its own round smartwatch, the G Watch R. It runs on Android Wear and has almost identical specs to rivals so the design is the unique selling point. The device will come in black or silver with a leather strap included.

Lenovo Tab S8
Tablet
Lenovo's latest effort is a contender for best value tablet with a sub-£150 price tag. Not only is the Tab S8 well-built, it comes with decent specs. The third and final announcement is the availability of Elgato's Smart LED bulb, Avea. From the Avea app, iOS users can create dynamic lighting scenes. There are seven scenes and colours to choose from. There's also the Wake Up Light function, which provides a gentle light to wake up to. Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact
Tablet
Sony has finally made a smaller tablet and the hard to say device is the thinnest around at 6.4 mm. The 8in Z3 Tablet Compact has Sony's classic style and is water-resistant. Two key features include support for High-Res audio playback and PS4 Remote Play.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
Smartphone
We liked the Xperia Z1 Compact and we're even more impressed with the Z3 Compact which comes with a larger 4.6in screen in a slimmer and lighter body. The device comes in new colours and retains many of the full-size Z3's features including a 20.7 Mp camera, High-Res audio and PS4 Remote Play.

Smartwatches are all the rage this year and not wanting to be left out, Asus has announced the ZenWatch. The wearable gadget joins others running Google's Android Wear OS. The ZenWatch features a stainless steel case, leather strap and a 1.63in 2.5D curved screen.

With Microsoft offering Windows to partners if the device is smaller than 9in it's no surprise we're seeing a raft of new small and cheap Windows 8 tablets.
