If you're a European HTC One M8 owner then check your handset, as there should be an Android 5.0 Lollipop update waiting for you.
You'll probably want to make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi (or at least have a very generous data allowance) before you start, as the update weighs in at a hefty 780MB.
There is a catch, however, as the update is currently only available for unlocked and developer HTC One M8 handsets. If you've got an HTC One M8 tied to a carrier, then you're going to have to hold tight until your network releases its own version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
Worth the wait
The availability of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update was announced on Twitter by Jeff Gordon, HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager.
Although it's been a long wait for many HTC One M8 owners, it has been worth it. Android 5.0 Lollipop brings a number of improvements to HTC's current flagship device.
These include improved stability, faster app launching, a new notification lock screen and pulldown notifications. The user interface has also been overhauled to give it a fresh and vibrant look.
As this is HTC we're talking about, the user interface is built on HTC Sense 6. A newer version of the custom interface, to be called HTC Sense 7, is in the works, though not expected for a while.
This is great news for most HTC One M8 owners, but let's hope that mobile network operators get their acts in gear to bring Android 5.0 Lollipop to their customers as quickly as possible.
