HTC One M9 name confirmed...by HTC

HTC's own website has confirmed the new flagship phone from the company will be called the HTC One M9.

TechTastic discovered the name confirmation after poring through the source code on HTC's site where the name HTC One M9 is mentioned.

It is the first time mention of the One M9 has come directly from HTC and it also confirms the company will be dropping the brackets from its flagship name.

The HTC One (M8) was announced in March 2014 and it raised a few eyebrows when the company added an obscure model code with brackets, but it seems HTC has now seen fit to drop them for this next version in an attempt to make the 'M Series' a more prominent brand.

HTC's website also confirms the new product tagline will be "One Life" that we can expect to see across the company's marketing campaign once it's released.

Only One?

Given the update it seems certain that the phone is on its way at the March 1 event in Barcelona, and it's going to pack some pretty strong headline specs, including a 64-bit 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 CPU accompanied by huge 3GB of DDR4 RAM.

The misunderstood Ultrapixel camera from the One M8 is rumoured to have been moved to the front whilst the rear camera will be replaced by a 20.7MP sensor on the back, with two storage options of 32GB and 64GB still unconfirmed to be accompanied by a microSD slot.
