The HTC U11 Plus has now appeared in renders based on leaked details

The HTC U11 Plus has now been spotted in a set of renders, depciting the handset's design for the first time. The leak comes via @OnLeaks and Couponraja teaming up again; @OnLeaks has generally been a reliable source of accurate design details and renders based upon them in the past, and recently has teamed up a few times with the Indian website to bring exclusive first looks at in-development phones.

With this leak, the sources say the phone measures 158.2 x 74.6 x 9.1mm, with the render apparently being based on this and other details provided by said sources. As you can see, the 6in 18:9 display takes up the vast majority of the frontage, in keeping with the current trend, and as with many other similar devices it necessitates the fingerprint scanner migrating to the back panel.

On closer inspection, you may notice that the phone has somewhat substantial bezels above and below the screen, so it's not quite as edge-to-edge as some recent rivals going for the same big screen style. This appears to be a move to allow HTC to keep its dual front-facing stereo BoomSound speaker setup, which makes a lot of sense considering that's still an excellent USP.

It's also quite simialr to the Pixel 2, which HTC created for Google.

You can see that the design features the same high-gloss, mirror-finish back panel as the HTC U11, this is the so-called ‘Liquid surface’ finish HTC used before.

@OnLeaks also reiterated expected specs, including a Type-C USB port, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 6in QHD+ display, 4GB and/or 6GB of RAM, and 64GB/128GB of onboard storage. The report also says the HTC U11 Plus will feature the same single-sensor camera as the HTC U11, and won't have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Presumably this will mean also that, like the regular model, it will be waterproofed.

A launch event is expected on November 2.
