Apple last updated its MacBook Pro with Retina display on 29 July 2014, by quietly boosting the specs and reducing the prices of each model. We're expecting Apple to update the laptop again this year, so we've gathered the evidence to bring you the MacBook Pro 2015 release date rumours, and speculation about its possible specs, features and UK price.

MacBook Pro 2015 release date: When is the new MacBook Pro coming out?

We're pretty certain that Apple will release a new MacBook Pro with Retina display this year, and are expecting a summer launch for the product. It's possible that Apple will use WWDC 2015 in June to unveil the new MacBook, though last year's launch was announced simply with a press release rather than an event so Apple could choose to go for the same low-key approach again this year.

We're expecting WWDC 2015 to happen around 8 June 2015.

If Apple doesn't launch the new MacBook there, then another July launch is probable.

MacBook Pro 2015 UK price: How much will the new MacBook Pro cost?

With the last MacBook Pro with Retina display update, Apple reduced the starting price of the computer to £999 for the 13in entry-level model, ranging up to £1,999 for the top-of-the-range 15in Retina MacBook Pro.

We don't think Apple will increase the price of the MacBook Pro, so expect better specs and features for the same or very similar price tags as the current line-up.

MacBook Pro 2015 rumours: Specs & features

The current Retina MacBook Pro models have Haswell processors, but Intel's new Broadwell chips are imminent, so we expect to see new MacBook Pro models that utilise the more powerful and efficient processors this year.

The Broadwell chips should mean that the new MacBook Pro models have better batter life, native support for 4K display technology.

However, some reports suggest that Apple may wait until a bit later in 2015 for the Skylake processors from Intel. The Broadwell chips have been so significantly delayed that the launch of the Skylake successor is expected to be reasonably close to its predecessors, though it's possible that they won't launch until 2016.

We expect that the 8GB RAM standard for the 13in MacBook Pro Retina models and 16GB for the 15in models will continue with the next update to the line-up.

If you're hoping for a new version of the non-Retina MacBook Pro then we would advise that you don't hold your breath. The last update to that model, which is the only Mac available from Apple with a built-in CD/DVD drive, was more than two years ago, and there are rumours to suggest that the company will soon discontinue it completely.
