Samsung Galaxy S6 metal frame leak hints at premium design

If you were hoping that 2015 would bring more clues as to what Samsung's Galaxy S6 flagship is going to look like, you're in luck: a fresh batch of leaked pictures appear to show an all-metal casing for the upcoming phone, which may well be being shown off at CES in secret right now.

The source is the same French tech site that revealed similar pictures before Christmas, but these ones are much clearer and more interesting. Apparently the frames come from one of Samsung's suppliers.

We can't glean much from the photos, but Samsung has said that the Galaxy Alpha was a sign of a new design direction for the company - and that too favoured the use of metal over plastic.

Those rumours in full

Up until now, we've not much heard through the grapevine as far as the S6 is concerned: there have been whispers of tapered edges and a shell made out of aluminium, but don't take any of this as official right now.

Further rumours point to a 5.5-inch QHD display, 3GB of RAM and either a 16MP or 20MP camera. The Galaxy S5 launched last March, so its one-year anniversary is fast approaching.

There have also been suggestions of a limited edition Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (to follow on from the Galaxy Note Edge), with both edges featuring a curved display. Until Samsung makes something official we'll have to content ourselves with these snaps and some informed speculation.
