The Android Wear smartwatch in the new style will roll out globally next month. It also announced a SmartWatch 3 holder so owners can use any 24mm strap with the device which will be available early 2015.

“Our approach to smart, wearable technology is based on the fundamentals of building depth and variety in user experiences, and providing choice with beautiful, functional products,” said Kaz Tajima, Senior Vice President, Head of UX Creative Design and Planning at Sony Mobile Communications.

The wearable still features a 1.6in LCD Transflective screen, IP68 rating, GPS and a microUSB port but comes in stainless steel like rival smartwatches including the Motorola Moto 360 and LG G Watch R.. Sony says it 'matches contemporary with timeless aestheticism for a premium look and feel'.

Sony hasn't confirmed whether it will cost more than the regular model but we assume that it will. The regular model costs £189.

Sony also announced a new collaboration with Virgin Atlantic which will use Sony's SmartWear products with the aim to improve customer service for customers. That's a little vague but Sony will announce more details in the coming months.
