Sony may please music lovers with a Walkman edition of the Xperia Z4

We've heard plenty of Sony Xperia Z4 rumours in recent weeks, and here's a new one to add to the pile: Sony's plotting a music-focused Walkman edition of the phone designed to appeal to audio enthusiasts.

The details come courtesy of a leaked image spotted by iGeek - it looks like we could get hi-res audio codec support (sure to get audiophiles drooling), a two-day battery life and beefed up S-Force PRO front-facing speakers. It looks like there'll be five distinct colours too.

If you use your phone primarily as a music player then this is one rumour worth keeping an eye on. It's going to feature the Walkman branding and may show its face at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this March, the report says.

The name's Z4... Xperia Z4

We're eagerly awaiting the arrival of Sony's latest flagship device, primarily because we liked the last one so much. We thought we might catch a glimpse of it at CES but unfortunately that didn't materialise.

There's already talk of multiple versions of the Z4 - so a Walkman edition would fit into that theory - and we got our first look at the handset thanks to a leaked promotional shot from the next James Bond film.

At the moment we think a 5.4-inch QHD 1440 x 2560 display is on the cards though there are conflicting reports on the processor slated for the device. The idea of a high-end music-focused Walkman edition has only increased our anticipation for the launch - but there's a while to wait yet.
