Sony Xperia Z4 said to be sticking with a 5.2-inch screen

We'd heard that Sony could be equipping its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, with a larger 5.4 or 5.5-inch screen, but new leaks appear to deny this.

Instead of going with a larger screen and more pixels (the previous rumours suggested a QHD resolution), a new leak from an alleged Sony insider claims that the Xperia Z4 will instead come with a 5.2-inch 1080p screen.

Do those specifications sound familiar? That's because it's exactly the same as the screen found on the Xperia Z3. These rumours, reported by PhoneArena, have cropped up again from a separate source which claims to show screenshots from computers in a Sony lab.

It looks like the screen might stay the same size then, as well as potentially the same resolution, though the second source didn't mention whether the screen will remain 1080p.

Same screen, new processor?

Both sources also offer conflicting accounts of what chipset will be powering the Xperia Z4. The first leak from the insider claims that the Z4 will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset, while the second source claims it will have the Snapdragon 805.

Due to rumoured delays with the Snapdragon 810, and the likelihood of Sony showing the Z4 off at CES next month, at the moment it looks like the Snapdragon 805 is the safest bet, which is still an upgrade over the Xperia Z3's Snapdragon 801 chipset.
